The Challenge
This project focused on modernising the online presence of a local medical practice, transitioning it from a basic web footprint to a high authority, patient centric platform that emphasises trust and professional expertise.
As the lead developer, I was responsible for the full digital refurbishment, which included:
Identity Modernisation: Designing a clean, medical grade aesthetic using WP Bakery that balances clinical professionalism with a welcoming user experience.
Patient Conversion & Booking: Implementing Gravity Forms for secure patient intake and integrating the WhatsApp API to facilitate direct, real-time communication between patients and the clinic.
E-Commerce & Payments: Setting up WooCommerce to manage specialised product sales, integrated with Ozow to provide a seamless, instant EFT payment experience for South African patients.
I am particularly proud of the social proofing integration. By strategically placing patient testimonials and clinical expertise indicators throughout the site, we successfully transformed the website into a high-trust environment. This resulted in a noticeable shift in how the practice is perceived locally, moving it from a “local office” to a “leading specialist” in the digital space.
The Challenge: Balancing a “modern, high-tech” design with the accessibility needs of a diverse patient base (which often includes older demographics who may not be tech-savvy).
The Solution: I prioritised a high contrast, “clean-room” interface with large, legible typography and intuitive navigation. I also implemented a “one click” WhatsApp floating button, ensuring that patients who found the form-filling process daunting could still reach the clinic instantly.
The refurbished platform officially went live on August 2, 2022, immediately replacing the legacy site and improving the practice’s digital intake efficiency.
